Privacy Policy

This policy describes the permitted data practices of hwverif-backup, a personal server backup utility operated by Eyal Benoudiz. It applies when the utility is authorized and used.

Data accessed and its purpose

The utility processes server files selected by the operator for backup. Through the Google Drive drive.file permission, it accesses the content and metadata of files it creates or that the operator explicitly makes available to the app. Metadata may include file names, identifiers, sizes, timestamps, and folder relationships.

This data is used solely to create, maintain, check, and restore the operator’s backups. OAuth access and refresh tokens are used to authenticate approved Drive operations without requiring the operator’s Google password.

Storage and access

Backup copies are stored in the operator’s Google Drive account. Credentials and local working data must be kept in access-restricted locations on devices controlled by the operator. This public website does not contain or receive backup contents or OAuth credentials.

Sharing and limited use

Google processes data necessary to provide Drive storage and authorization. The utility does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising, profiling, or training generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models. Data is not shared with other people or services except as explicitly directed by the operator for backup or recovery, or as required by law.

hwverif-backup’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Retention and deletion

The operator controls backup retention. Backup data remains until deleted by the operator or by an operator-configured retention process; no fixed retention period is promised here. Revoking the app’s access in Google Account settings stops future authorized access but does not automatically delete existing backup files. The operator can delete those files in Google Drive and remove locally stored credentials and working copies.
